About the University of Leeds
The university received its royal charter in 1904, with roots going back to the Leeds School of Medicine in 1831. It's a member of the Russell Group and one of the largest universities in the UK, with around 34,500 students. Almost a third of them come from outside the UK.
In the QS World University Rankings published in June 2026, Leeds placed 77th in the world and 12th in the UK. It was the university's ninth year running in the global top 100.
One campus, a mile from the centre.
Everything sits on a single campus about a mile north of the city centre, so lectures, libraries and the students' union are a few minutes apart.
You'll get to know the Parkinson Building first. Its white clock tower is the university's landmark and the usual place to meet. Behind it is the Brotherton Library, with its round, domed reading room, and the Victorian Great Hall, where graduation ceremonies are held.
Leeds University Union is at the centre of campus. Its Refectory is where The Who recorded Live at Leeds in 1970, and it still hosts gigs. The Edge, the university's sports centre, has a swimming pool and gym.

Domo Leeds offers two types of accommodation. Studios are self-contained rooms with their own kitchen, bathroom, desk, wardrobe, and storage — everything you need in one private space. Ensuite rooms sit within 3-5-7-bed shared apartments, where you'll have your own bedroom and bathroom, and share a kitchen with a small number of flatmates. All rooms are single occupancy unless you choose a dual occupancy studio.
Our accommodation is available to students in full-time higher education. You'll need to be — or confirm that you will be — enrolled at a university or higher education institution. You also need to be at least 18 years old at the time of booking. If you're under 18, a parent or legal guardian should get in touch with us before a booking is made.
You can book directly through our website. Before you complete your booking, please make sure the room type, contract start and end dates, and total rent shown on your booking summary are correct.
